Competency

Shipowners, crewing agencies, authorities (e.g. foreign flag state administrations) and other institutions with a legitimate interest can verify online the authenticity and validity of all certificates for seafarers issued by the BSH (Certificates of Competency and Proficiency as well as Seafarer's Cards). This requires a one-time registration.

Medical fitness for sea-ervice

There are two ways to verify the authenticity and validity of German medical certificates:

1. Online

Excess for registered users

Forgotten your password? Please send an e-mail to verification@bg-verkehr.de.

If you are not registered yet, send us the relevant application form stating who requires the excess and why. For reasons of data protection, a registration is only permissible for companies and foreign shipping authorities with justified interest.

2. By means of fax, postal mail or e-mail

In individual cases you may send an application with the corresponding medical certificate by means of fax, postal mail or e-mail. You will receive an answer by the same way.
